Chairman’s Message
On 14th April, 2022 the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya was dedicated to the nation. On behalf of all of
us associated with the setting up of this new museum, it is our deepest aspiration for the
Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya that it is recognised as the 'House of Democracy'. Each of our Prime
Ministers since independence has played a pivotal role and contributed immensely towards the
progress and development of our country. It is thus befitting that a new Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya
has been set up to honour each one of them, a decision that originated from the Hon'ble Prime
Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
The magnificent Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya building stands in the precincts of the existing museum
dedicated to the first Prime Minister, Shri Jawaharlal Nehru. This site for the new building block was
chosen after serious deliberations, most significant being that the existing Nehru Museum continues
to receive its place of honour. The memorial museum and the newly constructed museum building
together is known as the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, showcasing the legacies and achievements of
all our Prime Ministers since 1947.
Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji's guidance was inspirational. His words that there
should not be a poverty of creativeness and ambition in implementation of such projects radiates a
nobler and higher understanding. Since museums represent a country's heritage, every citizen
should have a sense of belonging and feel like a stakeholder of the Sangrahalaya. We leave it to our
visitors to decide if we have been able to deliver as per the noble aims set by the Hon'ble Prime
Minister. I humbly request all visitors to consider the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya as a work in
progress considering that it will keep evolving and improving based on feedback from visitors. Please
keep sending us your feedback for improvement.
